In this talk I will first introduce and provide a brief overview of the SPHEREx (Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization and Ices Explorer) NASA mission that launched on March 11th 2025. The mission, operating in 102 continuous spectral bands between 0.75 - 5 micron, is currently about to complete its first observation of the sky, the first out of four fully-sky coverages. I will then focus on the Ices Investigation theme, one of the main science objectives of the mission, and discuss preliinary results, hilighting in particular the dicovery of Galactic ice absorption features on angular scales never seen before.
